A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position
Dentures can also be used with dental implants by using the implants to help retain the denture and “click” it into position. This can give you more confidence as you know they denture is less unlikely to move during function.
Denture construction starts in the dental practice when Dr Valentina Daskalovic will take impressions of your dental tissues so our dental technician can begin to make your denture.
Dentures are custom made and can be made in several materials, acrylic, cobalt chrome, gold or a new material with increased flexibility, Valplast. Your dentist will decide on the type of denture with you and your technician will construct it according to our design.
Dentures can replace a single tooth or several teeth or can replace all dentition with a full denture. They can also be made to incorporate precision attachments which attach to other teeth or dental implants placed to aid retention of the denture.
Dentures can also be used as interim restorations while we are waiting for healing following extraction of teeth.
